What’s Your Dream? Simon Squibb

If you’ve spent any time on social media recently, chances are you’ve come across Simon Squibb. He’s the entrepreneur-turned-author on a mission to help 10 million people start their own businesses — and, in his own words, fix the education system while he’s at it.

He’s become famous for walking up to strangers and asking one simple, disarming question:

“What’s your dream?”

It sounds light and casual. But the follow up rarely is.

In a recent video we watched, Simon asked a young woman that exact question. Her response?
“To get more followers on Instagram and TikTok.”

Simon’s reply was calm but cutting:
“I need a purpose to follow you. I need a reason.”

We’re living in a strange moment in history. On the one hand, we’re in a meaning crisis. On the other, we’re more attention-driven than ever. Somewhere along the way, visibility became confused with purpose.

To his credit, Simon didn’t dismiss her. He dug deeper. He asked better questions. And eventually, something more interesting surfaced. She wanted more followers because she wanted to show people what real life is actually like in certain cities — not just the filtered, Instagrammable corners.

Now we’re getting somewhere. That’s no longer about validation. That’s about contribution. It’s about adding value. Helping people see more honestly. Sharing lived experience so others can navigate the world better.

What we love about Simon’s approach is that he interrupts the drift. That subtle, cultural current that pulls us towards what everyone else is chasing — more visibility and attention, more money, and more status — without ever stopping to ask: Why?

In his book, What's Your Dream? Simon shares his own journey from homelessness to entrepreneurial success, and the lessons he gathered along the way. It’s practical, it’s accessible, and it’s built around the idea that purpose isn’t found by accident — it’s uncovered through clarity, courage and action.

His intention is clear. His writing is refreshingly straightforward. And honestly? It might be the cheapest kick-up-the-butt you’ll ever get — in paperback form.

So we’ll leave you with the question.

What’s your dream?

And more importantly…

Who does it serve?
